Frequently Asked Questions (continued)

How do you find land on the Peninsula?
In most cases, a city or the county provides land in return for an agreement that Peninsula Habitat will construct affordable, ownership houses on it. In some cases, Peninsula Habitat buys land with donated funds and financial support from a city. If absolutely necessary, we will buy land for home sites, although this will significantly increases the cost of homes.

Where does the money to build homes come from?
Tax-deductible donations from individuals, businesses and corporations, faith organizations and foundations support our work. We also seek grants for land, infrastructure, permit fees, and administrative expenses.

Additionally, our families' mortgage payments are deposited into our "Fund for Humanity," where they are used to construct more homes for low-income families on the Peninsula.

Where do the materials come from?
We obtain some materials through donations. Hathaway Dinwiddie, Webcor Builders, Rudolph & Sletten and Home Depot are just a few of our major contributors. Many other companies have generously given building materials and provided professional services and equipment.
