PLANNED GIFTS
Why Plan your Estate?
Estate planning has two very basic aims: making certain that after your death your property will be distributed according to your wishes, and protecting your estate against "shrinkage" brought on by federal estate taxes, expenses of estate administration, and other causes. Estate planning is really just another term for good stewardship - conserving resources entrusted to you and giving back better than you received.

Bequests
A simple and very popular way to make a significant future gift to Peninsula Habitat for Humanity is to include it in your Will. You may state that Peninsula Habitat for Humanity will receive a percentage of your estate, a fixed dollar amount, or the residue of your estate. Please contact the Office of Planned Gifts to assist you with the proper wording for this type of gift.
Charitable Gift Annuity
Charitable Gift Annuities are simple contracts that pay the donor a fixed percentage based on their age at the time of the gift. Lifetime income and tax benefits are valued by donors of charitable gift annuities. Custom illustrations can be made for you at no charge by calling or emailing the Office of Planned Gifts.
Charitable Reminder Trust
Charitable Remainder Trusts also pay lifetime income to the donor and provide tax savings. The advantages of charitable remainder trusts are the options not afforded charitable gift annuities, such as setting a fixed percentage, setting a fixed annual payout, and opting for "make up" provisions.
Lead Trust
This gift type is a helpful way for people who desire to make significant gifts to Peninsula Habitat for Humanity using an income producing business or rental property, while retaining the asset for future generations of their family.
Life Insurance
Did you know that you can name Peninsula Habitat for Humanity as the beneficiary of your insurance policy? Perhaps you own a life insurance policy and no longer need the benefits. Combined with a charitable remainder trust, many donors are able to benefit Peninsula Habitat for Humanity and their grandchildren while avoiding taxes.
