Give To Peninsula Habitat for Humanity

Peninsula Habitat relies heavily on donor support to help meet its financial goals.

Less than 20 percent of the people in San Mateo County are able to afford a first-time home* and demand for Peninsula Habitat homes is on the rise. In fact, we reached our 100th home milestone in the first 18 years of operation (August 2007), but expect to finish the next 50 homes in less than half that time as we race ahead with new projects in the pipeline, including South San Francisco, Redwood City, Daly City and Menlo Park.

In order to sustain this growth, Peninsula Habitat needs to increase fundraising by nearly 20 percent annually over the next five years. Foundations, individuals, corporations and faith groups provide nearly half of the financial support needed for Peninsula Habitat's housing development and homeowner programs. We believe this investment pays dividends well into the future by giving families a world of new opportunities and helping to end the cycle of poverty.

Foundations
Foundations are one of the largest single contributors to Peninsula Habitat, providing more than one-fifth of funding raised each year through community giving. With their focus on philanthropy and social impact, foundations are an ideal partner to help further the cause of affordable housing for low-income families on the Peninsula. For more information about foundation giving, contact Sabrina Pourmand at (650) 568-7337 or spourmand@peninsulahabitat.org.

Individuals
Individual donors represent nearly 13 percent of funding for Peninsula Habitat. From the $50 in quarters given to us by a four-year-old girl to a large gift from a corporate executive or a property gift, each and every financial contribution is needed. For more information about individual contributions, click here.

Corporate
Corporate partnerships enable Peninsula Habitat to build more homes in the community, while also helping to build employee morale and a sense of corporate responsibility as well. Some companies are engaged at the grass-roots level, often by departments using their own team-building dollars to get involved and support the cause. Others are engaged at the highest corporate levels, making a significant, long-term commitment to Peninsula Habitat. From $100 to $1,000,000, Peninsula Habitat welcomes corporate partnerships at all levels. For more information about corporate programs, click here.

Local Government
Local cities help to offset our building costs in a significant way. Cities acquire property for redevelopment, target non-profit developers to help them achieve their affordable housing requirements, and provide the land for free in most cases. When they select Peninsula Habitat for Humanity for a project, they partner with us to work through the entitlement process and in many cases provide some subsidy funding and/or waivers of fees in addition to the free land. Faith Organizations
From the beginning of Peninsula Habitat for Humanity, faith-based organizations have played a major role in helping to fulfill our mission of eliminating poverty housing in San Mateo County - putting faith into action to build hope and transform lives. For more information about how congregations and faith organizations can support our work, please contact Don Varney at (650) 568-7341 or dvarney@peninsulahabitat.org.
