Partnership Opportunities

People helping people.
Building a better world - one house, one family at a time.

This is the spirit of Peninsula Habitat for Humanity that has inspired hundreds of organizations and tens of thousands of individuals in the San Francisco Bay Area to get involved - to help make a difference. It started as a grass-roots effort and has become an organized movement dedicated to providing simple, decent, affordable ownership homes for families who lack adequate shelter.

Community partnerships are critical to Peninsula Habitat's affordable ownership housing program. Following are the types of partnerships that are needed:

Corporate
Corporate partnerships help local companies to meet their philanthropic goals, while enabling Peninsula Habitat to build more homes in the community. Some companies are engaged on an ad-hoc basis, often by departments or managers using their own team-building dollars to get involved and support the cause. Others are engaged at the highest corporate levels, making a significant, long-term strategic commitment to Peninsula Habitat. From $100 to $1,000,000, Peninsula Habitat welcomes corporate partnerships at all levels. For more information about corporate programs, click here.

Local Government
Partnerships with local cities are vital to our mission at Peninsula Habitat. Cities acquire property for redevelopment, target non-profit developers to help them achieve their affordable housing requirements, and provide the land for free in most cases. When they select Peninsula Habitat for Humanity for a project, they partner with us to work through the entitlement process and in many cases provide some subsidy funding and/or waivers of fees in addition to the free land. Construction And Developers
Peninsula Habitat partners with construction companies, general contractors, subcontractors, and building material suppliers who generously provide in-kind donations of services, discounted materials and trades on the job (e.g. foundations, plumbing, fire sprinklers, electrical and mechanical) that help reduce construction costs significantly and keep our homes affordable. Commercial developers also partner with Peninsula Habitat. They are required by city governments to contribute either money or homes for Below Market Rate (BMR) ownership, and often choose to support Peninsula Habitat's work instead of building the BMR units themselves since we are able to build homes at a lower cost than for-profit developers can. We typically build more of them as well. For more information about construction and commercial development partnerships, contact Scott Woodman, swoodman@peninsulahabitat.org or (650) 568-7352.

Faith Groups
From the beginning of Peninsula Habitat for Humanity, faith-based organizations have played a major role in helping to fulfill our mission of eliminating poverty housing in San Mateo County - putting faith into action to build hope and transform lives. For more information about the many ways that congregations and faith organizations can support our work, contact Don Varney, dvarney@peninsulahabitat.org or (650) 568-7341.
