Corporate Signature Program - Industry Campaigns
Real Estate. The Make It Real Campaign is a joint effort between Peninsula Habitat for Humanity and the real estate community. The total cost of a Habitat house from the ground up (including land, utilities, fees, and permits) is approximately $300,000. Our MAKE it REAL challenge - and opportunity - is to raise $3.3 million to purchase building materials and to help construct 22 new homes. Begun in 2004, the MAKE it REAL campaign is an on-going, annual effort that has raised more than $1.1 million, completed eight homes to date, while four more are currently underway. All businesses involved in real estate transactions are eligible to participate: realtors, banks, lenders, title companies, appraisers, inspectors, insurance companies. Participating companies and employees can contribute in a variety of ways and a variety of levels, through an annual one-time gift or a per-transaction amount.
Legal. The Buildable Hours Campaign is a national program that teams up local law firms with Habitat for Humanity affiliates, such as Peninsula Habitat, to build affordable housing for local families. When the program began in 2004, the Peninsula Habitat Buildable Hours program consisted of eight law firms and roughly $40,000 in contributions. Today, the program boasts the combined effort of 15 local law firms and more than $80,000 in annual contributions.
Biotech. Peninsula Habitat teams with biotechnology leaders such as Amgen, Abbott Vascular Devices, Theravance, Genentech, Nektar, Genencor, Maxygen, and many others to build affordable ownership housing in communities such as South San Francisco, the "Birthplace of Biotechnology" and others throughout the Peninsula. The Biotech Campaign has raised more than $100,000 since 2004, allowing working families in service, manufacturing, and retail sectors to live near their jobs in decent, safe, permanent housing.
Finance. An initiative of the financial services community, the Finance Campaign is a unique industry collaboration focused on promoting affordable home ownership on the Peninsula. Financial service providers, hedge funds and private equity firms - many of whom are direct competitors - join together in an annual fundraising and volunteer effort to help build homes alongside hardworking low-income families. Leaders of the finance industry understand that investing in human capital is key to the success of the finance industry - and our communities.
