Stanford Habitat for Humanity
Our mission is to work in cooperation with people in need to create a better human habitat in which to live and work. We do this by constructing homes, fundraising, taking families on free outings, and educating the greater Stanford community on affordable housing. We have helped build 36 town homes in the Redwood City community and are currently working on completing 7 homes and a play area in Daly City.
In the fall quarter, we raised over $12,000 in Home Run 2004, a walk/run race fundraising event. Over the years, we have taken the families whose homes we have helped build to fun and educational places like the San Francisco Zoo, the Exploratorium, and San Jose Discovery Museum. This spring, members participated in a Homelessness Simulation that discussed affordable housing issues in a fun and interactive way. The Habitat for Humanity experience is rewarding and it's fun to volunteer with a group of students who love giving back to the community in more ways than one!
