In addition to direct financial support, the firm provides the equivalent of thousands of hours of pro bono legal services to non-profit organizations and individuals. Since 2001, DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary has been a partner with Peninsula Habitat. In 2004 and 2005 summer associates, partners, and staff shared team building volunteer construction days at the Third Avenue, Daly City site. DLA Piper are house sponsors both for the Attorney theme house "Buildable Hours" and in the Biotech House. Steve Cohen, a real estate litigation partner in the firm's Silicon Valley office in East Palo Alto, has led the firm's support of Peninsula Habitat.
