Peninsula Habitat Kicks Off
All Faith's House, South San Francisco

More than 75 volunteers from faith-based organizations throughout San Mateo County will help build homes for low-income families Saturday, March 24 as part of Peninsula Habitat for Humanity's second annual All Faith's House build event. The first of four events between now and June, volunteers will come together to build one of Peninsula Habitat's four homes in South San Francisco.

"Our goal is to unite our faith-based partners in a collaborative effort to help low-income families in our communities who are unable to afford the Bay Area's ever-rising cost of housing," says Don Varney, Peninsula Habitat's Faith and Volunteer Services Manager. "Last year faith groups were so enthusiastic to participate that we expect an even stronger response this year."

Peninsula Habitat launched its first-ever All Faith's House project in October 2005 through May 2006. Thirty-one different faith-based organizations contributed more than 2,500 volunteer hours as well as financial support to help build one of 11 homes in Daly City. "It was exciting to see the bridges being built between faith-based organizations in our diverse community," Varney recalls. "As members of Roman Catholic, Jewish, Unitarian, Episcopal, Presbyterian, and many other faith communities worked together, they celebrated both their diversity and their shared vision of serving others in the name of God."
