Regular Volunteers Donate 14,546 Hours to
Peninsula Habitat in Last Year

Indispensable - that's how Peninsula Habitat for Humanity would describe the 124 regular volunteers who consistently donate their time, effort, and resources to us week after week. Each volunteer has different talents, skill levels, interests and backgrounds, but they all have one thing in common - a passion for working to provide low-income families with affordable homes of their own.

Last year we received more than 40,000 hours of volunteer labor, and more than one-third of those hours were donated by regular volunteers who worked both in our office and on the construction site. Each of their contributions is significant. Whether they hammer nails or file waivers, they help make it possible for our families to break out of the cycle of poverty and build better futures.

A consistent and steady flow of labor is crucial to Peninsula Habitat. More than 90 percent of the hours required to build our homes are donated by construction volunteers. Our regular construction volunteers make it possible for us to have more day volunteers on the construction site, and thereby increase our productivity. We can also maintain our construction schedule and keep our homes as affordable as possible for families. "Our volunteers are an invaluable part of what we do," said Dawn Adams, Peninsula Habitat for Humanity Site Building Manager. "They help maintain our site organization. They greet day volunteers, lead their work crews and answer questions throughout the day. They also work on projects that are too complex for inexperienced volunteers, which allow us to keep the site open to day volunteers during those projects and stay on schedule."
