Construction Volunteer
You wouldn't guess that a local high tech business owner would double as a volunteer rough-and-finish carpenter on the side, but that kind of disparity doesn't keep Dana Hendrickson away from Peninsula Habitat construction sites. Over the past two years Dana has faithfully given up every Thursday to volunteer at a Habitat construction site-first at Rolison Road and now in Daly City. He's assisted with almost every aspect of construction, and has developed his own specialties in rough-and-finish carpentry.
"Working alongside the family members who will one day be living in these houses is a genuine pleasure. The sense of satisfaction that you achieve when you know you have contributed to something that will change a person's life is a huge benefit of this relationship. To work together with these families and sense their enthusiasm and commitment — it is the high point of my week," says Dana.
